Poynter Proudly Serves Clients Beyond Indiana
In 2022, Poynter’s team landed the contract as the sheet metal contractor for one of the largest construction projects in U.S. history, which is also the biggest project in our company’s history. The rise of electric vehicles has created exciting new opportunities in the construction industry. Our team has over 20 years of experience in the automotive and pharmaceutical industries, providing us with a solid foundation to tackle innovative projects. Our team’s extensive VDC capabilities matched with our history of completing work outside of Indiana made us the perfect contractor for the client. These projects require world-class coordination and resource management, and our team, led by Executive Vice President Brian Neal, is suited for any task.
Overall, the plant is a massive 10 million square feet, with two main buildings. There’s over 4.2M pounds of ductwork and we are fabricating 100% of that in our 160,000 square foot shop, located in Greenwood, IN. This has created new jobs not just for the jobsite but for our sheet metal shop, as well. We’ve had good success recruiting as far as 75 miles away. Because we’ve onboarded new workers, we set up classes on site to teach simple skills like how to seal the network properly. At its peak, the site employed over 200 sheet metal workers.
This project began with an incomplete design, requiring us to start construction and the project simultaneously. Upholding our core values, we prioritize innovation and professionalism. Our teams are fully prepared to tackle the complexities and technical challenges of projects of this magnitude with efficiency and precision.
